The Challenge

Captain’s Log. Earthdate 2024. A marooned fashion brand needs the help of an expert crew to help them scale up their operation for success — now, and beyond.

Live Unlimited London has established itself as the go-to brand for women looking for stylish and contemporary clothing made for all. It was born out of a passion for creating clothing that fits every size and style with clothes that flatter curves, not hide them. Live Unlimited launched in 2012 with a small capsule collection, but within just five years, they were working with leading retailers like Next, John Lewis and M&S.

Seeing fast growth after joining Brave the Skies on a retainer in December 2021, Live Unlimited found that its online store needed to be scalable enough to meet the brand’s current and future ambitions. It became clear that their old Shopify theme was holding them back. An upgrade would unlock all the enhancements of Shopify 2.0 while allowing for a redesign and review of their apps and technology.

The Solution

Brave the Skies embarked on an emergency rescue plan to help Live Unlimited take flight. Both crews agreed that their old Shopify theme was holding them back and that an upgrade would unlock all the enhancements of Shopify 2.0 while allowing for a redesign and review of their apps and technology.

We ran an in-person discovery workshop to identify the key areas we could help Live Unlimited improve. We quickly learned that while users chose to shop with Live Unlimited because of their unique fitting process, inclusive sizes, and community feeling, navigating the old site was a hassle. Improvements to search and product visibility were a must, and colour variants needed to be added to the collection pages. So, we focused the redesign and built on simplifying product discoverability and creating an emotional connection to the brand.

To solve the challenge of site navigation, we implemented Klevu Search and Discovery. Klevu uses AI to improve search results and drive recommended products for a dynamic, personalised shopping experience for each customer.

Our design approach focused primarily on a truly seamless user experience. Live Unlimited sought to capture the close connection that the brand has with its customers in its visual identity, so it opted for a premium design the refined style that its customers had come to expect. A new handwritten header font and content focused on the brand story, allowing customers to connect with the brand and learn more about the brand. We also implemented personal recommendations from customers, which drove brand connection, improved product discovery, and boosted conversions.

The final problem to solve was improving onsite customer service. We implemented Gorgias, an AI-powered help desk offering support to Live Unlimited customers 24 hours a day. The helpdesk dramatically improved customer satisfaction and product discovery by giving customers new options to self-serve with faster query handling.

The Results

Mission log status: complete. We have successfully rescued and launched Live Unlimited from the perils of uncharted e-commerce solutions to prosperity.  

The impact of a new theme and integrations has unlocked solutions to drive sustainable and scalable growth, allowing the internal team to do more with the site, improving the quality of offerings, increasing online sessions by 9% and increasing returning customers by 3%.

The UX enhancements with enhanced search and recommendations personalised to each customer and the introduction of AI-powered helpdesk improved the conversion rate by 9%.
