The Challenge

Captains Log. Earthdate 2022. A ship called Ro & Zo in the fashion galaxy needed help from a crew of tried and tested eCommerce professionals to propel them to bold new heights.

Ro & Zo was founded in 2021 with the vision of creating timeless feminine pieces designed by women, for women. It quickly became a rising star of the industry, operating nationwide and working closely with leading retailers like Selfridges, Next, and John Lewis, who all stock Ro & Zo’s collections. It succeeded in building deep connections with its customers, building a brand that encouraged women to feel confident in everything they wear.

Ro & Zo needed the new site fast. The arrival of a new collection loomed on the horizon, and the launch of the improved store had to coincide. Ro & Zo required a crew with the experience and expertise to deliver a functional site that fit Ro & Zo’s aspirations but promptly.

The Mission

Brave the Skies touched down with a proposal for a seamless new design and build on the Shopify Plus platform. One that better reflected their brand identity, showcased their products and provided a tailored UX built on scalable functionality to meet Ro & Zo’s ambitions. We roadmapped the proposal to meet the launch of the new collection, combining the needs of Ro & Zo but setting a clear plan of how to get there.

Before implementing our solution, we embarked on a discovery mission, diving deep into Ro & Zo’s identities, challenges, potential pain points, and understanding of the user and the user’s journey.

We implemented the site after understanding Ro & Zo’s brand and challenges. The design focused on building the brands’ connection with customers and improving the site’s functionality. We developed a new site typography that better fit the brand direction and offered customers clear messages that were easy to understand. We presented a premium redesign of the site, better fitting with the experience that Ro & Zo products provide, focusing on functionality and creating a seamless user experience.

The launch of the site coincided with the launch of the new collection, so all issues needed to be dealt with immediately and effectively. We optimised site speed to deal with the demand of the new collection so customers would never have to face slow-down as the result of traffic surges with the latest collection launch. With our design and development crews working in harmony, we built a site true to the Ro & Zo brand, functional with UX at its heart — and could be rolled out to coincide with the collection launch.
